Pilates 1

Pilates is an exercise discipline that is equally suited to men and women alike, who want to stretch and strengthen the body in a holistic, inspiring atmosphere. It will dramatically transform the way your body looks, feels and performs. Focusing on rediscovering and controlling the deep-set core muscles of the body, Pilates when practiced regularly will strengthen, lengthen and balance the body, enhancing sports abilities and natural movements in everyday life, creating a sleek toned body with slender muscles, flat abdomen and strong back. Pilates is globally acknowledged for greatly improving muscle control, co-ordination, flexibility and overall posture.

Movement Improvement offers Pilates classes with both large and small equipment. All Mi Studio classes are kept at small numbers of participants to maintain a high level of personal instruction for every participant.

Well-tailored Pilates Program

Pilates movements start from scratch, slowly re-learning and re-educating the body on how to move correctly again (if this is indeed what you need or to the level that you require). The nervous system is incredibly flexible and adaptable and will reorganize itself as a result of well executed training. The 3 stages of this process are:

  1. Awareness - Thinking about good movement
  2. Repetition - Practicing good movements
  3. Habit - Movements then becoming 'automatic' or set so the muscle remembers them. Known as muscle memory engram.
